Sojourner Truth faced bigotry on multiple dimensions. She was a Black, a Black woman, a woman, and a former slave who opted to face down members of the abolitionist movement who felt that woman's suffrage should take a back seat to the freedom of the slaves.

JUST SAY'n: "Common Ground for Ledisi and Beyonce!"
What a ruckus occurred after Beyonce's performance of "Precious Lord" at Sunday night's Grammy awards. Many took offense to her rendition of the spiritual classic and felt that it should have been performed by fast rising vocalist Ledisi, whose performance in the Grammy nominated movie Selma was strikingly reminiscent of Mahalia Jackson. Remarkably, there is a faction of the Black community that is not pleased with the idea of having a Black History Month.
